Caring for organic leather products

Eco leather is a type of artificial leather that is produced using improved technologies without the use of the chemical compound polyvinyl chloride (PVC). This makes the material completely safe for humans and improves its properties. Despite its purely synthetic origin, eco-leather has a number of advantages over its natural counterpart: it is cheaper to produce, easier to process and care for, and most importantly, it eliminates the need to abuse billions of animals. At the same time, fashion designers and designers agree that the technical properties of eco-skin are much broader, and therefore products made from it can be many times better and more diverse than those made from natural material. It is based on textiles, usually cotton, and the second layer is polyurethane, which is used to give it different shapes and colors.

Eco-leather is hypoallergenic, so products made of it are suitable for people with sensitive skin. This material is able to protect against moisture, grease, various odors and most existing textile contaminants. This material is not afraid of either cold or frost: the properties of eco-leather remain unchanged at any time of the year and in any weather conditions. 

Eco-leather has been produced on an industrial scale since 1963, and since then manufacturers have mastered the process to the point where they can mimic any texture of real leather or give the synthetic analogue any color. As a result, almost anyone can own items that look elegant and even unique when it comes to reproducing the textures of rare animal skins. 

Caring for organic leather products

• Eco-leather is considered a breathable material due to its two-layer structure. Therefore, it is important to keep both layers clean to maintain their high air permeability;

• The material is capable of repelling liquids, so immediately wipe up any spills with a soft, absorbent cloth or sponge;

• To remove dried stains, also use a soft cloth dampened with detergent, soap or ammonia solution;

• Organic leather products are better washed by hand, without the use of aggressive substances and at a water temperature not exceeding 30°C. It is recommended to limit the number of washes to the minimum necessary and try not to wash things unless absolutely necessary;

• Drying of organic leather articles should be done without direct sunlight or using heating devices. The most important thing is to prevent the material from drying out, causing it to crack and the top polyurethane layer to fall off;

• If you get caught in the rain and the bottom (textile) layer of the eco-skin is not wet, do not try to dry the clothes, but simply wipe the wet top layer with a soft cloth or towel;

• It is better to store clothes made of this material in dark places with low humidity.

It is not allowed:

• Wash eco-leather products in the washing machine on the intensive cycle at water temperatures above 30°C;

• Iron clothes made of eco-leather from both the outside and inside. The material does not crease, and high temperatures destroy polyurethane;

• Use genuine leather care products on artificial leather - this will inevitably damage the eco leather;

• Cause mechanical damage to eco-leather: unfortunately, this material is almost powerless against scratches, friction and cuts. Avoid close contact with animals if you wear items made of this material.
